Philosophy of Teaching
Don Goble is an award-winning Multimedia Instructor, International speaker, and published author from St. Louis, Missouri. Don teaches grades nine through twelve at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis and he works as an adjunct professor for Loyola University New Orleans. One of Don's greatest professional achievements was being named the Broadcast Adviser of the Year in 2015 by the National Journalism Education Association.
First and foremost, Don is a teacher. He instructs two levels of Broadcast Technology coursework, which allows students the opportunity to learn media literacy lessons through the creation of their own media projects. Student's in Don's classes learn how to produce video news stories, documentaries, mobile journalism, TV studio operations, online media, digital portfolios, commercials, Public Service Announcements, and narrative films. Don wrote the entire curriculum for both levels of Broadcast Technology. In addition, he co-directs and created LHS-TV & Films, a student-produced television station and multimedia publication. His students are responsible for "Ladue View," a 15-minute high school produced television news magazine show. Along with these projects, Don oversees the schools daily video morning announcements "LHS News" and it’s staff of 10 students.
Don has built strong partnerships with local and national professional and scholastic organizations. He was one of the first recipients for a Ladue Education Foundation grant , he hosts the only high school program on the local St. Louis television station HEC-TV, iAmLadue (a top downloaded show on iTunesU from 600,000 subscribers, five years in a row,) and has cultivated relationships with KSDK-NBC Channel 5 “Pair and Share,” KMOV-CBS Channel 4, SchoolTube.com, EdPLUS, the National Scholastic Press Association and the Journalism Education Association. In addition to Don's classroom work, he also produces videos for the Ladue School District's Communication Department.
In the summer of 2019, Don began as an adjunct professor at Loyola University New Orleans, teaching online courses for digital photography and videography. Don wrote curriculum, curated content, and organized both classes using the content management system Blackboard.
Outside of school, Don speaks internationally at conferences, conventions, and professional development workshops offering educators and corporations innovative ways to leverage video and media literacy into the classroom or business.
