Don Goble, the Broadcast Technology Instructor at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St. Louis, MO, created a speaker series titled, Media Makers. Don interviews his former Ladue High School alumni now working in the media business, as well as some of my professional media maker friends. Using Zoom, Don's students are invited to participate live to ask questions, or watch the video after. Students are asked to research important facts about these professionals, blog about what they learned, and then find one to two stories these professionals produced, or collaborated on, to write about in their personal blogs, along with an image(s) related to the story.
Don hopes his students will be inspired to learn more from these professionals to improve their own practice when they can leave their homes and tell stories again from the field. Message from Don Media Makers will begin on Monday, March 23rd as my partner and I, Marteana Davidson, set the stage for our students' distance learning. We will share some stories and begin the journey of capturing our first-person accounts during this historic time we are living in, facing the coronavirus. The first two formal interviews will take place on Tuesday, March 24th. I have the pleasure of interviewing two of my former students who have carved out successful careers traveling very different paths. See their information listed here. I will post the recorded session immediately following the interview. See a full list of scheduled GUESTS under the "Media Makers" section.
