Ladue alum Erin Wides is a Multimedia Journalist for KTRE 9 in Lufkin, TX. On this episode, Erin talks about her first full-time news reporter job at KTRE and how she is responsible for doing it all...a "one-man band," she said. Erin talks about being persistent in finding stories, shares a behind the scenes look at her day and how she organizes her files, finds stories, and lessons learned from Broadcast Technology classes at Ladue, which she still implements today. 89-year old Lufkin resident works out three times a week to keep independence "The lesson here is about serendipitous stories and how they can be found anywhere. It was Jan. 1st and I had no other ideas except for gyms and New Year's resolutions, but this became way more than that!" Search underway at Neches River for Wells businessman missing since Sunday. "I was on and off of this story that week. A man had gone missing and search and rescue teams were at the campsite day in and day out. It took me two hours to even find the campsite, after driving and hour to get to the general area. The when I got there, half the family wanted us there, half didn't... so everything was shot on a phone! A well-known rodeo clown had preformed many times in our viewing area, but was well known all over the country. We had a Lufkin resident who announce with him so it was a matter of setting up that interview while they were still in town, talking with him and trying to get together footage.
